James R. Piper

James R. Piper has over 40 years of experience in exploration and mining. He began his career working as a field geologist for AMAX Inc. engaged in Mo/Cu/Au recon/drilling projects in Colorado in 1980. Following Mo/Cu/Au exploration, he was hired by Johns Manville (JM) to locate borate orebodies. From 1983-1992 he was with Stillwater PGM Resources, involved with grass roots recon. projects and drilling project management. He was promoted to research geologist in industrial minerals and precious metals. Projects implemented ore petrography, remote sensing, and employed international ore deposit research. In 1993 as a graduate student at Colorado School of Mines (CSM) he focused on research at the USGS in the branches of Isotope Geochemistry and Geophysics (Speclab). Upon graduation from CSM with an MSc in Geology he began consulting. Currently he specializes in ore petrography. He is a CPG, and is registered as a PG with WBPG.
